About Lug Nut Ledger
Mechanic-made checklists and spreadsheets for car buyers, car owners and small shops.
Who makes it
Lug Nut Ledger is made by a working mechanic: ASE-certified, and a licensed Pennsylvania state safety and emissions inspector. I inspect cars for a living, and I spend a lot of my day explaining the same things to people: what a problem means, whether it's worth fixing, and whether a car is worth buying.
Lug Nut Ledger is where that goes on paper. The checklists are the ones I'd want a friend to take with them to look at a used car, written in plain words, with the reason behind each check.
What the templates are like
- They explain the why. Each check says what you're looking for and what it means if you find it.
- They separate deal breakers from things to negotiate. Not every problem is a reason to walk away.
- They do the math. The spreadsheet works in Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice, with no macros.
- They're honest about limits. A checklist is a guide, not a substitute for a professional pre-purchase inspection.
